Challenges

Within Roelofs Group, we have invested in our information provision in recent years. From my previous employers I was already familiar with various BI tools and within Roelofs Group we started an exploratory project. The specific request from commerce was to be able to show the customer all current information on 1 A4 sheet, including the turnover per sand extraction, the types of sand, the invoices and the outstanding items. We accepted the challenge to take this on as our first BI project. First finish this and then move on to the next.

As a result of the Safety Culture Ladder certification, among other things, we wanted to make reporting unsafe situations and performing Safety Walks as user-friendly as possible for our employees. From a safety perspective, we have a number of standard obligations, such as a Toolbox Meeting and recording workplace inspections. Previously, these were all separate documents that were filled out and shared. In addition, the resulting action points also had to be registered and followed up manually. This way of working cost us a lot of unnecessary time. Of course there are existing applications that are suitable for this, but we chose to have a Roelofs app built that fully meets our wishes and requirements.

Why Peacock

The solution

BI: I often used to unconsciously look at old data. With this solution, this is immediately clear in the home screen. If there are data clashes, it is immediately visible, which increases confidence in the reports. The accountant was also enthusiastic.

Apps: The Safety App has greatly improved quality and insight into projects! All data is now centralized, which increases quality and saves a lot of time. Thanks to the link with Power BI, the data appear directly in the statistics. This saves the secretariat 2-3 hours per week and the site employees 10-15 minutes per registration.

How was support created?

BI: An intern introduced the capabilities to employees, and in departmental meetings we shared progress, such as with the sand extraction lists. This encouraged employees to think about reports they liked. Based on that, we expanded the tool.

Apps: The Safety Culture Ladder working group, with 12 members from various departments, became involved in the Safety Culture Ladder certification process. They became ambassadors of the Safety App and spread their enthusiasm. Because of its ease of use, employees quickly adopted the app, and new requirements were added in subsequent updates. Unsafe situations are now reported more quickly, without the hassle of laptops.

How did you get in touch with us?

We were tipped off by Jorrit Koops of Schuiteman Accountants. Within the auditing practice they use the solutions of Peacock. Jorrit indicated that experiencing a demo of the Financial Control Accelerator could be interesting for Roelofs. He was right!

As for the app, we looked at a number of other (existing) apps that were also suitable for this purpose, but ultimately chose to have Peacock develop our own. One of the main reasons we did this is because we want to continue, also in the future, with the Power Platform. Everything is completely customizable, which is very nice. The flow of information we have achieved through the app is a precursor to the security requirements we had. Totally future-proof, in other words!

The collaboration

The open communication, quick follow-up, clear agreements and pleasant contacts do characterize Peacock. As a result, the projects run smoothly and the cooperation is very pleasant. As a company, we know what we want and Peacock knows what is possible. The lines of communication are very short. They actively think along in the process. They listen carefully and everything is processed neatly. This is how we came to something beautiful together.
