Challenges
Over the years, our Data Warehouse had become a water main, allowing us to make minimal use of our available data. There was no policy and structure in managing the data warehouse and writing queries. Ad hoc became the new standard. Business rules were not consistently implemented in a similar manner and not documented. Jobs were not set up efficiently and depended on too many variables.
In addition, we did not yet have a BI tool and reported mainly in Excel. Well known to most; Excel is not visually strong, dashboarding is limited, few automation options and reports are difficult to share with groups, especially the pull option. In addition, Excel was only accessible through the server and not on all devices (e.g. mobile).
